Each month, we are privileged to work with artists from all over the world. Their unique styles and points of view make for an especially diverse sense of inspiration in the art that arrives in our monthly Holstee Membership. From Los Angeles, California to Barcelona, Spain and everywhere in between, each piece of art is a true collector's piece. View past subscription art here

Andrew Frazer is a full time time illustrator, hand letterer, designer, and artist that ignites the imagination through his thought provoking characters and narrative based art. He's also a long-time friend of Holstee, and it's always a joy to get to work with him! We recently chatted about his work, life, what inspires him, and what's been making him happy lately.

Q: Where is home for you?
A: Bunbury, Western Australia

Q: What is your definition of a successful life?
A: Opening your home to those who don’t have one.

Q: Describe your perfect day.

A: Coffee with my wife, log fire, play time with my son, family road trip down south, bakery stop off, beach combing, shared dinner with friends, a cozy bed.

Q: How did you get into design?
A: I’ve always been passionate about creativity in many forms, but a big turning point was during my time in Canada when working at Wyndham Art Supplies located in Guelph. I was surrounded by very inspiring art product, but what was more inspiring was the staff. I learnt so much about design & the creative process & really grew in confidence when it came to my own practice. I will always be incredibly grateful for this season of life.

Q: Where do you find inspiration?
A: Meeting new people & hearing their respective stories… there is always so much to learn if we are open to listening. Taking time in prayer is always inspiring… keeping perspective & remembering what is really important.

Q: What's your dream design project?
A: Partnering with passionate people who believe in the power of art to engage, inspire & move communities to growing closer together.

Q: Which designers or thinkers influence/inspire you?

A: Stormie Mills, Kyle Hughes-Odgers, Chris Nixon, Brennan Manning, Ken Robinson & Todd White.

Q: What was the inspiration behind this design?
A: Encouraging people to live with risk & to remember that seeing something online is not the same as getting out there & experiencing the adventure in person.

Q: At the moment, what is your favorite...
Color:
 Ochre
Food: Lasagna
Song: Blessings by Chance the Rapper
Quote: "To live without risk is to risk not living" by Brennan Manning

EXPLORE Adventure

Our Themes

Distilled from our Manifesto, positive psychology, the science of mindfulness, and ancient philosophic studies we have identified twelve themes core to living both fully and mindfully. We mapped these twelve themes to each of the twelve months in a year. Together with our community we explore one each month.
