This month, we’re taking a break from our normal update as September was a particularly exciting month for me: I got married!! As it turns out, the line in our Manifesto that says “If you are looking for the love of your life, stop; they will be waiting for you when you start doing the things you love” was, in my case, very true. We wrote those words in the Holstee Manifesto over seven years ago, two years before I met Jess (my wife!!). I was introduced to her by Mikey, Holstee’s head of wholesale. Jess was considering leaving her job to start a line of fair trade artisanal goods and we met over an informational coffee to discuss sourcing fair trade products and what we learned at Holstee from producing our minimalist upcycled wallets. We went from being neighborhood friends (me in the East Village apartment I shared with Mike and Fab and Jess on the Lower East Side) to dating a few months later. Fast forward five years to just two weeks ago when we got married!
Jess and I are still buzzing from the wedding high, but also realize this is still just the beginning. There is a lot for us to still learn about each other and what it means to be in a thriving relationship. If there is anything I have learned from past Founder’s Notes it’s that there are some very thoughtful, well-read and caring people in our community. To that end, I would love to learn from you. Do you have any relationship or marriage advice you’d be willing to share with Jess and I, and to to our community in general?
Please share them in the comments below.
Looking forward to your thoughts!
Feeling the love,
P.S. Not in a relationship but want to be in one? Our friend Tim Urban over at Wait But Why wrote this piece on how to pick your life partner. In a relationship but not sure if your partner is the right one? Tim still has you covered: check out this fun post on the marriage decision.P.P.S. Next month we will be diving into the most requested topic from last month and sharing some of our learnings and best practices for working remote. Stay tuned!

This article is part of our series on the theme of .EXPLORE
Distilled from our Manifesto, positive psychology, the science of mindfulness, and ancient philosophic studies we have identified twelve themes core to living both fully and mindfully. We mapped these twelve themes to each of the twelve months in a year. Together with our community we explore one each month.VIEW OUR THEMES
