A collaborative labor of love.

A letterpress printed tribute to Maria Popova's meditation on 7 things she learned in 7 years of reading, writing, and living posted on Brain Pickings. Having long been fans of Brain Pickings and Maria's work it was a delight to work together to bring her learnings to life! We worked with Uruguayan illustrator and graphic designer Martin Azambuja, who came up with the visual metaphor of a mobile for an added layer of symbolism.

"I’m proud and so very excited to reveal the end result of this collaborative labor of love, months in the making — an 18″x24″ letterpress poster printed on thick, sustainable cotton paper, inspired by vintage children’s book illustration and mid-century graphic design."
Maria Popova, Creator of Brain Pickings

The 7 Lessons:

1. Allow yourself the uncomfortable luxury of changing your mind.

2. Do nothing out of guilt, or for prestige, status, money or approval alone.

3. Be generous with your time and your resources and with giving credit and, especially, with your words.

4. Build pockets of stillness into your life.

5. Maya Angelou famously said, "When people tell you who they are, believe them". But even more importantly, when people try to tell you who you are, don’t believe them.

6. Presence is far more intricate and rewarding an art than productivity. As Annie Dillard memorably put it, “how we spend our days is, of course, how we spend our lives.”

7. Debbie Millman captures our modern predicament beautifully: “Expect anything worthwhile to take a long time.”

Amazing customer service

I received posters that I ordered later than expected for a special event and when I enquired about how to return them because they were no longer needed, I was instructed to give them to someone who may like their message, and my entire cost was refunded. That's pretty awesome customer service!!
